Here it is, the year summary that's a few days late, but at least it's not completely delayed ~
2022, the third year of the pandemic. The keyword for me this year is "change". Everything is changing. I graduated from college, quit my job for the second time, and then suddenly the pandemic control policies in China were completely lifted. This year has been filled with uncertainty.
To be honest, I don't know why I was so reckless back then. I actually didn't stay at the company where I interned because I didn't get the salary I wanted. Looking back now, I feel that my decision was impulsive. In July, which is the peak recruitment period for students and the recruitment vacuum period for companies, it was even more difficult to find a job in the job market due to the impact of the pandemic on the economy. Fortunately, after a short period of slacking off and interviews, I was able to find the company I am currently working at. Although the salary is not much higher, I was really scared at that time because although there were many HR positions posted on job websites, no one was actually responding.
There have also been significant changes in my personal life. From living alone in a one-bedroom apartment in the city, I moved in September to a three-bedroom apartment in a residential area with a friend. Although the rent and expenses are not lower than before, the quality of life has greatly improved. At the same time, I can also say that I managed to avoid a wave of outbreaks in the city in November. I had actually been thinking about moving for a long time. On the one hand, it was because I was about to become a regular employee at this time, and my salary would increase accordingly. On the other hand, the living environment in the city is not really good. Even if the house you rent has a balcony and direct sunlight, you will always have to pass through the alleys of the city on your way home. The alleys are really unpleasant no matter what the weather is like throughout the year. Your head may be dripped on by some unknown liquid, not to mention the bumpy roads. It really messes with your state of mind. Safety is also the biggest concern for me in the city. It's not that I'm worried about being robbed or stolen from, but I often see electric scooters parked on the road, which makes me constantly worried. In case of a sudden fire, it would be difficult to escape. So for various reasons, I decided to move out and share an apartment with a few friends!
Alright, that's about it for the changes in work and life this year.
What did I write on my blog#
- Migrating my blog to cloudflare and the pitfalls At the beginning of the year, I migrated my blog from a self-hosted server to cloudflare workers.
- Deployment and updates of my blog and related services Then I updated the deployment process of my blog and deployed the main domain of my blog on vercel because their CDN seems to be more friendly to mainland China.
- Flashing LineageOS on OnePlus 8T I played around with my phone, mainly because OxygenOS died and I didn't really like it, so I flashed LineageOS. Also, this OnePlus 8T suddenly ended its life on December 14th this year because its motherboard broke. It's annoying, it happened just one day after the release of the Xiaomi 13, so I had to reluctantly buy a new phone.
- Implementing the Swiss Tournament Algorithm in Go I wrote this article while improving the original Swiss tournament algorithm at my new company. The new algorithm has a clearer structure and higher execution efficiency.
- Deploying a clickhouse cluster using docker-compose This blog post is actually a record of me setting up a clickhouse cluster at my previous company. I also wrote it because I happened to have some spare time.
- Signing git commits with ssh keys There's nothing much to say about this article, just documenting it.
- Setting up a remote network with headscale I did this mainly because I wanted to connect to devices on my home network, but it didn't have much effect after my home network was set up with IPv6.
How was my blog this year#
- I published 8 articles this year (including this one).
- I added 0 new friends to my blogroll.
- There were 0 comments (no one cares.jpg)
Actually, there are still many blog posts on my to-do list that I haven't written yet, so I'll just pigeonhole them and see if I have time to catch up next year.
It seems that I broke my promise from last year as the Lion Boy's review is still pending. Hilarious.
What code did I write#
I don't think I wrote anything new. It was all about updating dependencies and fixing things in old projects.
- johnpoint/mc-mod-sync A command-line program for syncing Minecraft mods.
What new things did I try this year#
I did try a lot of fun things this year.
- Cloudflare Zero Trust, a zero trust SaaS platform.
- ZeroTier
- Tailscale
- Headscale
What activities did I participate in#
- GDG devfest GuangZhou (It got postponed again! It's now scheduled for February next year, so scary)
